Atlanta Contemporary Jewelry Show 2012

This was our first time participating in the Atlanta Contemporary Jewelry Show. We want to thank Debra Lynn Gold and Leigh Griffin for inviting us to this wonderful show. They did an amazing job of organizing what proved to be a diverse collection of innovative jewelry artists from around the country.

I'll have new work at the Lingg Showroom  along with another local artist, Brandon Holschuh.
If you've never visited Lingg your in for a treat!
It's one of our best boutiques.

Peter Skubic at Gallery Loupe

We just returned from a whirlwind weekend in New York City where met up with my jewelry teacher from Cologne, Peter Skubic.
We had a lovely afternoon catching up. Peter's dynamic personality hasn't changed one bit and at 77 is still doing great work.
His show with Thomas Gentile at Gallery Loupe is just about to close but if you happen to by in Montclaire NJ in the next few days I would say it is definitely worth a visit!

Ikebana classes starting at Tap August 23!

Tap Studios is offering the opportunity to learn the fascinating art of Japanese flower
arrangement with Shoko Morton Thursday mornings.
Shoko has taught the Sogetsu method since 2006 and has been a
member of Ikebana International Cleveland chapter since 2000. The Sogetsu
School was established by late Sofu Teshigahara in 1927. Sogetsu Ikebana's
philosophy is based on the idea that Ikebana may be arranged anytime,
anywhere, by anyone and with any material. Flowers and plants are the
products of nature but Ikebana is the response of man's creativity and
imagination is expressed in the arrangement of the materials.

The textbook, container, kenzan and scissors will be available for purchase
from Shoko.

class cost: $12.00 + materials $8.00 to $12.00 (depending on the season)

meeting: every Thursday 10:00 to 1:00 starting August 23

Please email Debra with any questions you may have. rosendebra@gmail.com

It can't only be about jewelry!

Yes, sometimes we just have to get out and experience nature.
We love our kayaks (Roman most of all) because everything is so close, eye level.
All the creatures; turtles, beavers, snakes, various birds are clearly visible in their own world, undisturbed.

Masako's Woolsmithing Workshop at Tap

Last Saturday we hosted Masako Onodera and her Woolsmithing Workshop at the studio.
We had a wonderful day learning the different methods of needle felting. It's a fiber based technique that is appealing to jewelers because of the variety of different shapes and forms possible to create.
The small 3 dimensional shapes of felt can easily be incorporated onto metal structures such as earring or pin backs. Introducing us to a more organic way of combining materials without typical metalsmithing techniques such as solder or rivets.

Todd's gold panning trip in this month's American Craft Magazine!

Here is a link to the article in American Craft featuring the trip Todd made last year.  The primary focus of the project was to bring awareness to mining and supply chain issues.
