Bridesmaids Workshop at Tap

The girls working on their necklaces.

We had a fun afternoon at the studio with Leanora and her bridesmaids.  They each created a unique charm necklace using stamping, hammering and forming techniques.  Some embellished their charms with Swarovski crystals.

Open studio this Saturday at Tap June 25, from 12:00 to 4:00

Stop by this Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 and see what's new at our studio.  You can either come on your own or hop on the Art Space trolley for a tour of our neighborhood.  The tour is organized every year by Bill and Harriet Gould who are true urban pioneers and promoters of our area.  Go to  http://artspacecleveland.com/ or 216/241-4355 for reservations or more information.
This is a great opportunity to discover a part of your city you might not be too familiar with.  Have a look at the current issue of Cool Cleveland to view a feature of who is included in the trolley tour.[Image]

We are back from Seattle

Todd and I escaped for almost two weeks to attend the SNAG conference in Seattle.  We had four days to immerse ourselves in a world of contemporary jewelry and craft related lectures, demonstrations, and exhibitions.  Here is a very interesting blog from the Art Jewelry Forum that highlights some of the topics discussed and shows a few pieces from an outstanding exhibition we saw there called Geography.  http://www.artjewelryforum.org/blog/

After the conference we took a bit of time to explore the Olympic Peninsula

The latest Wedding Band Workshop couple at Tap

Last weekend we had the pleasure of getting to know Amy & Bob.  They are a fun loving couple who came to our studio to make their own wedding bands.  It is always a wonderful experience for us to welcome people into our workshop who have an adventurous spirit and guide them to making rings that are truly unique and reflective of their own personalities!

Todd's Next Adventure!

Those of you who have followed Tap Studios throughout the years are well aware of Todd's adventure streak.
Remember the hike across Iceland?  And his jaunts through Ohio's wilderness with his orienteering events.
In a few months it's off to the Black Hills of South Dakota panning for gold.
Todd has been invited to join Gabriel Criag's project that will document artistically and ethically produced wedding bands from start to finish.  Learn more about the project here:

Lunch on Fridays presents Todd Pownell and Debra Rosen April 22

Thanks to everyone at CIA and especially Professor Christian Wulfan for inviting us to give a talk about our work, Tap Studios and what we do there.  The talk mostly focused on our ideas of embracing craft as a lifestyle.  That by exposing the public to handmade, one of a kind objects increases awareness of the material and thus the actual work involved in making.

The Orange Art Center Faculty Exhibition Opening This Friday April 29

Debra will have work in the upcoming Orange Art Center Faculty exhibition.
This show will feature a variety of work from the diverse group of talented instructors
from the center.
Friday is the patron reception and the show runs through May 1st
